This weekend I flew to Columbus, Ohio, to visit my sister, my nephew Teddy, and my brand new nephew Elliott. My mom also flew up from Georgia to meet up with us for a few days. I spent a good part of the weekend holding the new baby, which was perfect. He is so freakin’ adorable, and he would fall asleep on me with his arms all wrapped around me, snoring.
My other nephew, Teddy, was a little harder to keep up with. He is almost four, and he has a ton of energy! He gets super excited when he solves a puzzle on the iPad, and he’ll scream with delight. It’s the cutest thing ever. He is ridiculously smart — he can legit read, at three years old. Not just memorizing a book he’s heard a bunch of times, but if he sees a new word, he can actually read it, or even read nonsense words he makes up from letter blocks. He can also name the states and capitals, and point out countries like Bhutan and Macedonia on a map. I may be biased, but I think he is a genius.
We spent an afternoon at the pool, and it took all three of us to keep Teddy from jumping in to the deep end. He’s kinda fearless.
On Sunday we all went to COSI, the science museum that my sister and I loved when we were kids. Teddy loved the kids’ play area, and it was fun for me to see the place through his eyes. But taking two kids to a museum is exhausting. SO exhausting! Even with three adults.
Hopefully I will get to see them again before too long, but I am glad I got some good baby snuggling in while I can. Love being an aunt!
