Every year my college girlfriends and I get together, usually in the summer, for an epic girls’ weekend filled with laughter, booze, reminiscing, and good food. Gotta say, it’s a pretty awesome tradition that has taken us to Jacksonville, the Kentucky Derby, our college (Miami of Ohio) ten-year reunion, Chicago, and Nashville. This year we headed west, to stay in Molly’s parents’ new condo in Park City, UT. It was a long flight, but it was worth it!
On the first day together, we did some stand-up paddleboarding at Jordanelle Resevoir. I didn’t think to take the waterproof camera on this trip, so there are no photos of my totally wiping out and falling in the chilly water. Darn. I did stand up and paddle for awhile though, and it was relaxing once we all got the hang of it.
We also spent a lot of time just exploring the town of Park City: walking up and down Main Street, eating in amazing restaurants, and even getting massages at a spa on Sunday. We went hiking on Saturday (more on that in another post), and spent some time drinking wine in the pool. I even got to take a few hours to meet up for ice cream with my brother- and sister-in-law (and niece!), who live nearby.
A girls’ weekend always recharges my batteries like nothing else, although I left pretty exhausted with all the activities! The sky was so blue ( I usually crop out much of the sky in photos but I left it in these because it was so pretty!), the air was super dry, and it was sunny every single moment of each day. I drank gallons of water to try to adjust to the dryness and altitude. This Florida girl is used to 90% humidity and 1 foot above sea level, and we were 7,000 feet above sea level most of the time!
Even though all of our lives are completely different, and we live in different parts of the country, somehow each time we come together it’s like freshman year of college all over again (with slightly fewer shenanigans). Already looking forward to next year!
