When we decided to move to Florida, one of the things we really wanted to do was buy an annual Disney pass. We have always been “Disney people” — I mean, we got engaged there! — and living only three hours away from the parks was definitely a pro on our “should we move” list. Last summer life was just too busy with adjusting to a new home and my new job, but this summer we actually made it happen!
We bought our annual passes online, and we had to print the confirmation page to take to the park with us. We showed the computer printout to the parking guys, and they let us in with no charge (parking is included in our pass). Then we walked right up to the ticket window, gave them the papers and our IDs, and we were given special annual passholder cards to enter the park, along with a little booklet that details the discounts we now get in various areas.
We were a little bummed that we didn’t get Magic Bands right away, but after we showed our IDs and got checked in, we were able to order them in just a few clicks with the My Disney Experience App. (They arrived a few days after we got home.) I am SUPER EXCITED to go back with our Magic Bands! They even have a special doo-dad to attach that shows you’re an annual passholder.
Throughout both days, I was shocked at how many “cast members” (in Disney speak, the people who work there) noticed our annual cards and thanked us for being passholders or told us about discounts. (The best discounts seemed to be at Animal Kingdom, btw.) They cast members really did a nice job of making us feel special. I also love the free parking aspect, because we could hop around the parks without having to wait for a bus or spend a bunch of money. Plus it makes me feel like I could pop in for just a few hours if I want.
Probably the biggest thing I noticed, though, was our excitement about various improvements to the park, and the way we kept saying “the next time we come we’ll do that or eat there.” Our annual pass experience was surprisingly easy, and I can’t wait for us to go back — this time with my new pink Magic Band! Eeeeee!!
PS: This was not a sponsored post (I mean, I WISH Disney wanted to sponsor me, but come on, that is not happening). I just wanted to tell y’all about our experience in case you are also thinking about getting an annual pass!
