Summer is a little more than halfway through, and it has been busy around here lately for sure. Two conferences (one blog and one teaching) meant some short trips for me, but I’m glad to be home now. Here’s what I’ve been up to since then:
Eating at the New Waffle House
This is pretty darn exciting — we got our first Waffle House in the area this week! As former Atlanta residents, we’re big fans, and we’ve been watching this one being built for months. My order is usually a pecan waffle with a side of bacon. It was pretty busy there, even on a Friday morning, so I know it’ll be packed in season.
We’ve had some trips to the beach, which is always fun, and this last time they were doing some kind of a photo shoot for a calendar. A bunch of half-dressed firemen descended on the restaurant where we were eating, so we had to snap a few photos too. You’re welcome.
Dealing with Enormous Lizards
This is Kermit. You may remember him from last year, and we think he was someone’s pet who escaped. He has been living in the bushes on the side of our house. I walked into the guest room and he was crawling across the screen. Scared the crap out of me!
Dealing with This
Husband has wanted a motorcycle for years. He used to race them, long before we met, and it makes me super nervous. He has promised to be super, super, super careful, and even though I’m still super nervous, I finally relented. This is NOT a racing bike, he says, just a riding around town bike. That had better be true.
We have some family visits planned next week, but other than that, just laying low. Hope your summer is equally chill!
