This past weekend we headed up to Tampa for a truly unique experience: the Distinguished Gentlemen’s Ride. It’s a worldwide event in which guys (and some girls too!) dress up in their best vintage outfit and ride motorcycles together to raise money to fight prostate cancer. Since Husband got a bike a few months ago, we went up with some friends to give it a try.
The girls drove up together and stopped in St. Petersburg for lunch. St. Pete is a hip little town! Who knew? We ate at this amazing food market called Locale. One of the best burgers I’ve ever had, for real! So many delicious things for sale in there.
Then we headed to our hotel (the Marriott on Sand Key in Clearwater) to meet up with the guys. We enjoyed some pool time, and mojitos and dinner at Columbia restaurant right next to the hotel.
The next morning was the ride, and we dressed up in our vintage finest. My friend Liz and her husband went with a 70s vibe, and Husband and I went 60s. We drove the car to the next stop, while our friend Robin rode with her husband. It was SO HOT out. We may or may not have spent part of the time sitting in the car in the air conditioning. But it was a really unique experience, and it was fun to be a part of a big group of bikers.
Glad to be home safe and sound, and thankful for a wonderful weekend of friends and fun!
