Seeing some snow was actually not the main purpose of our Boston trip– that was just kind of a nice bonus. We actually went to Boston to see a concert. Seeing Andrea Bocelli live has been a “bucket list” item for both of us, and Boston seemed like a good place to make it happen.
The concert was at TD Garden on Saturday night, and we got there a bit early. Our cab driver told us there would be plenty of nice places to eat around the Garden, but we did not seem to find any. We ate at a sports bar across the street that was just okay. But, we did get to the concert with plenty of time to settle in to our seats!
We had fantastic seats and a good view of Bocelli as soon as he took the stage. He would sing about three songs, and then another performer would come in for a song or two, like a female opera singer, a violinist, dancers, and near the end, American Idol’s Katharine McPhee. (Apparently he was her mentor on the show?) He was as incredible as we thought he would be, and there were even a few Christmasy tunes thrown in. There was plenty of variety to keep the show entertaining, without resorting to a bunch of flashy backgrounds. We are both thrilled that we were able to see him live!
There was one more thing that we just had to do in Boston: see the Cheers bar! I didn’t really watch Cheers growing up, but Husband did, and he was excited to see it. The “real” bar downstairs serves both food and drinks, and you can go upstairs to the “set bar” and see where the show was actually filmed (along with a pretty big gift shop, of course). It was fun taking pictures there, and it was a great place to duck in and warm up for a quick drink.
It was a quick weekend in Boston, but we managed to fit in plenty of fun!
